Other Dunwell Safety Policies

Payment Policy – All students are required to register and pay prior to class.

Class Environment – All classes will be held only in smoke-free environments.

Walk-ins – Walk-ins to classes are not permitted.

Non-registered attendees – Students may not bring non-registered attendees to their classes (e.g., friends, family, children, co-workers, etc.).  This includes classes held in students’ homes. You must make childcare and other arrangements for you to attend the entire class without interruption.

Lost or Stolen Items – Dunwell Safety, LLC is not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen when attending our courses. Please lock up valuables or leave items at home.

Identification Policy – All students must show a valid, current government issued identification (i.e., Passport, Driver’s License, State ID card) to prove identity for each course.

Illness/Personal Emergencies
We understand that sudden illnesses and emergencies happen and are not always in your control. There are, however, attendance requirements that must be met to successfully complete training.

No Show Policy
Students are expected to arrive to class on time. Students who wish to cancel or reschedule their class must follow the guidelines in the Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy.

  • Students who do not show up to class are considered a NO SHOW.
  • Students arriving less than 15 minutes past class start time are considered TARDY.
  • Students arriving for class more than 15 minutes after the start time are considered a NO SHOW.
  • Students arriving for a Skills Session more than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time are considered a NO SHOW.
  • Students who have rescheduled a class and do not arrive by the start time are considered a NO SHOW.

Class Start Time Policy

  • If an organization or client schedules a class, and after the instructor has set up class, the organization or client holds or delays the instructor from beginning the course, the organization/client will be charged at the rate of $35/hour, which will be billed in 15 minute increments. This will be charged to the organization’s/client’s original payment method. Certification cards cannot be issued to a client until their balance is paid in full.

Rescheduling

  • To reschedule, the student must contact the Dunwell Safety office by phone at (201) 688-3224, or email at info@dunwellsafety.com no later than 48 hours to class start. Voicemail messages do not constitute a contact.
  • A customer is permitted to reschedule their course enrollment once without penalty, provided a course for equal or lesser value is scheduled within the next 60 days.
  • Customers wishing to reschedule beyond 60 days, customers attempting to reschedule less than 48 hours before class start and customers needing to reschedule more than once, will be subject to a rescheduling fee equal to 40% of the total amount paid for the original enrollment.
  • Customers needing to reschedule more than 2 times will forfeit their course enrollment fee and must purchase course enrollment anew.
  • Students who are considered a NO SHOW are not permitted to reschedule their class. Please see the Attendance Policy.
  • Responsibility for rescheduling falls upon the student/customer. Failure to reschedule the class within 60 days of the original class start date will result in no refund/credit.

Student Cancellations

  • A customer wishing to cancel a class may do so subject to any penalties detailed in the Refund Policy.
  • Once registration is processed and enrollment fees paid, no refund will be given. This includes cancellations.
  • Students may receive credit for a class of equal or lesser value at Dunwell Safety’s discretion. Class credit expires 60 days after original class date.

Dunwell Safety Cancellations

  • Low enrollment cancellation – Although we make every effort to promote classes, our company reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. In case of a class cancellation, any student who has paid for their class will have the option of rescheduling into another class at no additional charge, or receiving a full refund.
  • Emergency cancellation – Emergencies happen, and usually without notice. As a safety organization, we do not send our instructors out in weather emergencies as indicated by the National Weather Service (e.g., Hurricane watches or warnings, snow emergencies, etc.). If we cancel a class due to severe weather, natural disasters, mass transit suspensions, building shutdowns, Instructor illness, family emergency or other reasons not caused by Dunwell Safety, registered students will receive priority enrollment in the next available class. If there are no available classes in the next two weeks within a 25 mile radius of the original class location, our company will issue a full refund. If a student wishes not to enroll in the next available class, that student may receive a 50% refund of the class costs.

Certification Policy

For students successfully completing their courses, the following rules apply:

  • Paper certification cards will be processed within 5 business days.
  • After processing, paper certification cards will be sent to the customer/student by first class mail (USPS) unless other arrangements are made prior to class commencement.
  • Electronic cards (ecards) will be processed by Dunwell Safety within 10 business days. This means that we have forwarded the necessary documentation to the accrediting association (i.e., AHA) for fulfillment of the ecard request. That organization will then complete the request and send ecard directly to the email on the student/customer account in accordance with their own terms and conditions.
  • Certification processing will be placed on hold for any account in arrears or pending payment arrangements. No certifications will be issued until payment or arrangements are confirmed.
  • Likewise, students unable to fulfill the class requirements (successfully pass the written tests, skills tests, and attendance requirements) will not receive certification, nor be permitted a refund/credit for the course.

Certification Status

All courses have requirements for completion and certification. Some courses have written tests, and almost all courses have some form of skills tests. If a participant is unable to complete all requirements of the course, and after remediation with the instructor during class is still unable to successfully complete the requirements, the participant will not be issued a certification or certificate of completion, and there will be no refund permitted.

Replacement/Misprinted Cards

  • If you have taken a class with us but need to replace your certification, you may contact us by phone or email us at info@dunwellsafety.com for further instructions.
  • Paper cards can be replaced or reprinted for a $20.00 administrative fee. If you wish your replacement card to be shipped priority mail, there is an additional $10.00 charge.
  • Electronic cards need no replacement. You can access them in your online portal and reprint as necessary.
  • You are responsible for the correct spelling of your own name. A student roster is provided at the beginning of each class and you must check to make sure your name on the roster is spelled and formatted correctly. If you fail to notify the instructor or administrative assistants at the time of signing in of any corrections needed, Dunwell Safety will not be responsible for the misprinting of the card. To obtain a new card with a different spelling/formatting will require you to pay the replacement fee.

For all Renewal Courses, the student is required to show a current, non-expired certification equal to or greater than the certification of the currently enrolled class.

If you are a new provider, or have a certification that has expired, you must take the full certification class.

Blended learning classes are web-based courses in which customers choose to complete a portion of the course work online, and the rest in a skills practice session using the appropriate equipment under the supervision of a certified, trained instructor.

  • No refunds (either partial or whole) will be issued after registration has been completed.
  • Exchanging an online/blended course for an instructor led course is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Dunwell Safety does not provide the online portions of any course. They are provided by our 3rd-party partners. These 3rd Parties are solely responsible for the availability and delivery of the online content. Technical support is provided through these companies.

Accepted Forms of Payment
PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, Certified Checks and Money Orders are accepted for course payment. Business Checks may be acceptable with previous authorization. Our Instructors are not permitted to accept cash payments for security purposes.

Billing Issues
A service charge of 2% per month will be added to all invoices 30 days or more past due. Payment terms or credit limit may be changed without notice at the discretion of Dunwell Safety.

Chargeback Claims
Customers filing chargeback claims with our 3rd party partners (i.e., American Heart Association) that are then refused for refund by that 3rd party, will be responsible for the $25.00 service fee imposed by the merchant bank for disputing the initial charge.

Effective January 26, 1992, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) bars discrimination against persons with disabilities in places of public accommodation. Title III of the law bars private entities (schools, banks, restaurants, social service agencies, offices, retail sales establishments, etc.) from discriminating against individuals with disabilities in the provision of their goods and services. Individuals with qualifying physical or mental disabilities will not be denied participation in the goods, services, facilities, advantages or accommodations offered to the public. As a place of public accommodation, we will not discriminate against any patrons, clients, invitees or guests on the basis of real or perceived qualifying disabilities. Specifically:

  • We will allow access to anyone seeking admission to a course (provided prerequisites are satisfied) regardless of real or perceived inability to participate in or pass the course.
  • We will allow participants in every course to participate within the limits of their ability and learn as much as they can. For some people, certification may not be important. For those individuals, focus on helping them to learn as much as possible.
  • If there is a request for accommodation, we will discuss possible solutions with the individual or his or her guardian, and if the individual prefers and provides permission, a medical provider. Accommodations may need to be arranged in advance and will be done so in compliance with all federal, state and local laws. We may not provide the accommodation preferred by the individual as long as the accommodation offered is reasonable (i.e., building a permanent ramp into a pool versus using a swing-arm harness). We will seek to first cover the costs for reasonable accommodation without a surcharge, but may offer the option for students to pay a portion or all of unreasonable accommodations if they should choose.
  • We will certify each participant who can meet course skill and knowledge testing objectives.
  • We will use available resources to assist people with special needs.
